Teenager arrested in St. Petersburg for using pepper spray

On January 23, a court decided to detain a minor resident of St. Petersburg. The arrest was based on an incident in public transport where the teenager sprayed pepper spray.

The conflict occurred on the afternoon of January 18 on Grazhdansky Prospekt. According to the court press service, a 60-year-old passenger on bus route 121 made a remark to the 16-year-old girl, leading to an argument. During the disagreement, the suspect used a canister of irritant substance. The content of the passenger«s remark was not disclosed.

During the court hearing, the investigation presented a characterization of the accused«s lifestyle. According to the data, the girl does not receive an education, systematically leaves home without permission, and also consumes alcohol and drugs.

The teenager did not admit her guilt and opposed the imposition of arrest as a preventive measure. Despite this, the court ruled to keep her in the pre-trial detention center until March 20.
