In the Republic of Tatarstan, another stage of telecom equipment refarming has been completed. Over the past year, engineers modernized about 100 base stations of MegaFon. This was necessary to provide communication to rural areas and villages.
The work took place in 27 districts of the republic. The largest number of facilities were modernized in small settlements of the Zelenodolsk, Tukayevsky, and Verkhneuslonsky districts. Changes affected residential areas and socially significant facilities: hospitals, clinics, paramedic stations, educational and cultural institutions.
During refarming, engineers transferred frequencies on the equipment from the 3G standard to LTE (4G). This affected the network«s bandwidth. As a result, the speed and capacity of mobile data transmission in 4G increased by 15 to 30%, depending on the location. To keep services working for owners of 3G devices, technical specialists left a portion of the frequency resource in third-generation networks. This solution also ensures correct operation of M2M devices: ATMs, payment terminals, and navigation systems.
«Engineers constantly analyze the network load and modernize infrastructure where necessary. In January, the volume of voice traffic outside cities increased by 25% compared to last year. Thanks to refarming, digital services have become more stable for hundreds of thousands of people. Among them are both residents of villages and towns, as well as tourists vacationing in the republic«s country complexes,» said Mikhail Rusinov, director of the operator in Tatarstan.
In total, over 2025, the operator«s engineers built and modernized more than 770 communication facilities in cities and districts of the republic.
