In February, Surgut officials are expected to receive the state expertise conclusion on the project to build the Barsova Gora military-sports camp based on the «Siberian Legion».

The decision to reconstruct the facility was made back in 2015. Design and survey work was completed, but a territory examination found that the land planned for construction is a regional cultural heritage site. Buildings and structures taller than ten meters cannot be built there. This required adjustments to the design and estimate documentation.

The facility has long been discussed at meetings of the social policy committee in the city council. Over the years, problematic issues have repeatedly arisen: contractors changed, and contract deadlines were violated. According to committee chair Emilia Trapeznikova, having a military-sports camp for youth education is a mandatory condition and requirement of today«s times.

At the end of 2025, the city administration proposed an additional backup option that could be used for construction. Deputies will discuss it in detail after receiving the state expertise results.

Earlier, we reported that Surgut authorities talked about recreation areas which will appear in the city in the near future.
