Sun Produces Double Explosion, Earth Calms Down

The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS reported a powerful double explosion on the side of the Sun invisible from Earth. This occurred on the night of January 24, as the magnetosphere of our planet was returning to normal after a severe magnetic storm.

«There are still no satellites on that side, and we can only guess what happened there. Frankly speaking, until this moment we were ready to bet money that it was completely empty there,» noted the laboratory.
If the regions of solar activity that caused the explosions persist for five days, they will become visible from our planet. This will happen when the Sun«s rotation brings them to the left edge of the solar disk.
In the recording made by the laboratory, three planets are visible, diverging after a recent parade.
«On the left are Venus and Mercury. On the right, Mars is sending rays of goodness to them. In reality, the impact on the first two planets is an optical illusion. Both bodies are now far behind the Sun on the side opposite Earth, while the plasma clouds have moved significantly sideways,» explained the specialists.
The planetary parade occurred on the evening of January 21. During this event, Mercury was on the same longitude as the Sun, about two degrees away from it. Mars and Venus formed a horizontal axis at a distance of about three degrees from the Sun. Such a close alignment of planets occurred for the first time in the current millennium, and the next one is expected only in June 2235.
Earth«s magnetosphere is currently returning to normal after an intense storm. According to the laboratory, throughout yesterday and last night it remained excited, but after 6 a.m. it transitioned to a calm state, marked as the »green« zone.
A powerful magnetic storm hit Earth on the evening of January 19 and became one of the most significant events of this century. Its duration was approximately 42 hours, and its maximum intensity reached level G4.7. The storm caused unusually bright auroras. It was caused by a solar flare of class X1.9, recorded on the evening of January 18.
