Street lights return to Murmansk after blackout, schools resume normal operations

Murmansk is gradually returning to normal life after a massive blackout.

City services have begun turning on street lighting and lights in public places. In the first five minutes, 105 out of 173 outdoor lighting objects started working. The remaining lights will be turned on gradually — from now until morning.

From January 28, schools and kindergartens in Murmansk will again operate normally.

Recall that in the Murmansk Region, a power supply line was installed on temporary supports. In Murmansk and Severomorsk, electricity has been restored.

Andrey Chibis announced the cancellation of electricity payments for northerners during the power outages.

Due to the accident, a state of emergency was introduced in the Murmansk Region. The Murmansk Region Prosecutor«s Office has already launched an investigation due to the massive power outages. A criminal case has been initiated. It was found that the fallen power line poles had been in service for almost 60 years.
