In Nizhny Novgorod, a Steller«s sea eagle listed in Russia»s Red Book was rescued. The bird, placed in a synthetic bag, was found on a car parking lot by employees of the Limpopo Zoo, as reported by the press service of Rosprirodnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage).

The identity of the person who left the sea eagle on the parking lot has not been established. During examination, veterinarians diagnosed the bird with a wing injury and severe exhaustion, requiring urgent intervention. To save the sea eagle, Rosprirodnadzor issued a permit for its removal from its natural habitat.

Specialists determined that the bird«s age is three years. Currently, the sea eagle is receiving necessary veterinary care.

«After its recovery, a decision will be made on the further fate of the bird and the possibility of releasing it into its natural habitat,» stated Rosprirodnadzor.

The Steller«s sea eagle is one of the largest birds of prey in the world. The weight of adult specimens can reach 7-9 kilograms (15-20 pounds). This species inhabits the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean, including Kamchatka, the Kuril Islands, and the Shantar Islands.

Earlier, in January, rare for the region, bullfinches were spotted in Nizhny Novgorod. These birds, characteristic of the Siberian taiga, were feeding on rowan berries in the Sovetsky District of the city.
