At the opening of the spring session of the State Duma, an initiative was voiced calling on lawmakers to refrain from introducing new taxes, fines, and social media blocks. According to the author of the proposal, such a measure could reduce growing anxiety in society and create a more favorable atmosphere for the country«s development.

Alexey Nechayev argues that prohibiting new bans would alleviate public stress.

The call was made by the leader of the New People party. Alexey Nechayev suggested that the population is tired of prohibitive measures.

«If tomorrow one of the deputies proposes to introduce a »tax on tax«, people won»t even be surprised. What would be truly surprising is if we get through the session without a single law that makes life harder. And we don«t block a single social network. People would definitely appreciate that,» he said.

The appeal came against the backdrop of fresh data from a VTsIOM poll confirming an increase in uncertainty about the future among Russians. As noted, constant changes in laws prevent people from making long-term plans. The main sources of anxiety are concentrated in personal, work, and financial spheres, as well as in the news agenda, according to the poll. The study also confirms that stress has become a common phenomenon for the vast majority of Russians, with one in five experiencing it constantly.

«People who had faith in the future and confidence in tomorrow were not afraid to act. They put Russia into space and created the world»s first fast neutron reactor. They created the Gosuslugi government services portal and in the midst of sanctions made payment with a smile possible. And from such news, smiles on faces really become more,« emphasized the speaker.

The initiative proposes that deputies during the session shift the focus from prohibitions to measures that simplify citizens« lives. The reaction of the parliamentary majority to the call will be shown by the upcoming agenda of the Duma committees.
