St. Petersburg's main Christmas tree removed from Palace Square

On Palace Square in St. Petersburg, the dismantling of the 30-meter New Year's tree has been completed. The tree was sawed up, and its parts will be used to make souvenirs and sawdust.

The dismantling work on the main city Christmas tree on Palace Square has entered its final stage.
The tree«s trunk is sawed into sections for making decorative items and prizes.
On the evening of January 29, after removing all decorations, specialists began sawing the trunk.
Branches and needles from the tree will be processed into sawdust for reuse.
By 22:30, almost nothing remained of the 30-meter tree.
According to preliminary information, the remains of the structure were planned to be removed overnight.
The fir tree installed on Palace Square stood longer than usual at the numerous requests of city residents.
Its dismantling began on January 23, and by the evening of January 28, all toys and garlands were removed from the structure.
The branches and needles will be processed into sawdust.
From the prepared and dried trunk, decorative clocks will be made, as well as prizes for the winners of the Children«s Drawing Competition and Christmas Tree Toy Competition.
