According to the press service of the city«s Energy Committee, as of January 22, snow melting and receiving stations have accepted and disposed of 1,000,820 cubic meters of snow, exceeding the million mark and equivalent to more than 55,000 truckloads.

The most loaded facility was the snow melting station on Oktyabrskaya Embankment, which received 123,948 cubic meters of snow. Long queues of dump trucks formed at its entrance, leaving only one lane open for traffic on Zolnaya Street.

Significant volumes were also processed at the snow receiving station on Vzlyotnaya Street (118,645 cubic meters) and the snow melter on Mebelnaya Street (87,983 cubic meters). Particularly large truck queues were observed on Mebelnaya Street after the winter holidays.

For the current winter, St. Petersburg prepared 18 snow reception points: 11 snow melting stations and 7 snow receiving stations. Their combined daily capacity reaches 101 thousand cubic meters. The stations are equipped with cameras that transmit vehicle count information to road services in real time. However, dispatchers can only recommend alternative sites, while the final decision on which point to use rests with road services and private carriers, leading to queues forming every year.

For the second year in a row, the first million cubic meters of snow were received in mid-January. In the 2025/26 season, this threshold was crossed slightly later than the previous year: in the 2024/25 season, a million cubic meters were reached by January 16, while in the 2023/24 season, it was as early as mid-December.
