St. Petersburg Announces Major Expert Examination of Apraksin Dvor

The client directorate for repair and restoration works in St. Petersburg has announced a tender for conducting a state historical and cultural expert examination of Apraksin Dvor. The documentation was posted on the public procurement portal on February 2.
The maximum contract cost is 10.2 million rubles (approximately $113,300 at current rates). All work must be completed by October 1, 2026.
The contractor will have to conduct an expert examination of over fifty buildings that are part of the Apraksin Dvor complex with the Mariinsky Market (formerly Shchukin Dvor). The objects are located at the following addresses:
- Sadovaya Street, houses 28-30, buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18-19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, letters A, B, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37-38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57
- Apraksin Lane, house 16, letter A (also including addresses: Sadovaya Street, 28-30; Lomonosov Street, 3-5; Apraksin Lane, 2; Torgovy Lane, 2)
Experts must clarify information about the names of the objects, the time of their origin, dates of major reconstructions, historical events associated with the monuments, and also determine the composition of the cultural heritage site.
In autumn 2025, a historical and cultural expert examination was already conducted for the reconstruction project and adaptation for non-food trade of two buildings of Apraksin Dvor. As part of this project, it is planned to restore a historical passage between the buildings.
City authorities previously promised that the full restoration of Apraksin Dvor will be completed by 2030.
