Monitoring of compensatory plantings carried out in 2025 has begun in Sochi. Specialists are checking how well the plants, planted to replace lost greenery, have taken root.

Last year, 106 palm trees were planted in the Khostinsky District, including species such as Butia, Phoenix canariensis (Canary Island date palm), and Washingtonia robusta. Also, 282 trees were planted, among them Pinus pithyusa (Pitsunda pine), Ginkgo biloba, Magnolia kobus, and Sakura (Japanese cherry). In addition, the district was adorned with 3,626 new shrubs, such as Prunus laurocerasus (cherry laurel), Juniper, and Japanese Azalea. The plantings were carried out in Frunze Park, on Kurortny Prospekt, in the 50th Anniversary of Victory Park, as well as on Zemlyachkova, Oktyabrya, and Darwin streets, among other locations.

— The ongoing monitoring allows us to assess the survival rate of plants and the general condition of green zones created as part of compensatory landscaping, — the message notes. A similar check of the condition of plantings will soon be carried out in all districts of the resort.
