Sochi Average Salary Hits 87.7k Rubles, Unemployment 0.2%

Sochi authorities have summarized the development of small and medium business for 2025. According to the resort«s press service, 41,324 small and medium enterprise (SME) entities currently operate in the city, a 6% increase from the previous year. Official data also shows a significant rise in the self-employment sector, with numbers growing by 13% to reach 81,526 people.
Against this background, the report appears ambiguous, as residents continue to complain about closing cafes and shops.
Additionally, the average monthly wage increased by 12% over the year to 87.7 thousand rubles (approximately $974 at current rates), which is almost 7% higher than the regional average. The unemployment rate in Sochi remains one of the lowest in the country at 0.2%.
The director of the department of economics and strategic development, Aleksei Zhudik, attributed the positive dynamics to systemic support for entrepreneurs.
«Stable growth over recent years is the result of all support measures. In the past year, 806.4 million rubles (approximately $9.0 million at current rates) were attracted through business support programs, and about 2.2 thousand services and consultations were provided,» Mr. Zhudik noted.
According to him, as part of the municipal program, the Entrepreneurship Support Center, a business training center, and the coworking center «Sea of Ideas» have been opened in the city. Last year, 200 representatives of the business community underwent free training, and this year, courses in eight relevant areas are planned to continue.
