Snowstorm Hits Don Region on February 2 Amid Key Events

On February 2, Rostov Oblast was hit by an intense snowfall, which meteorologists had previously warned about. Within a few hours, snow cover blanketed streets and highways, causing serious traffic disruptions in cities and on roads. Due to adverse weather conditions, all utility, emergency, and road services have switched to enhanced operation mode. A storm warning is in effect throughout the region, and rescuers have urged motorists to avoid trips if possible.
Rostov authorities reported on the situation at CHPP-2, where an accident in December left a significant part of the city without heating. The station has still not restored full capacity and is operating with limitations.
In Krasny Sulin, the bodies of a 56-year-old husband and wife were found in an apartment with signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. According to media reports, the man worked as a doctor at the local central district hospital. A criminal case has been initiated based on the incident.
In the construction and repair of highways in Rostov Oblast, unmanned equipment may begin to be used. This possibility was announced by Deputy Governor – Minister of Transport of the region, Alena Belikova. A pilot project is planned to be launched based on the Volgodonsk branch of RosDorNII (Russian Road Research Institute).
The regional government published the results of an annual survey in which residents assessed the work of their municipal heads. According to the study data, the level of satisfaction with the city administration«s activities under the former head of Rostov, Logvinenko, was higher than under the current mayor, Skryabin.
