Snow Moon Rises Over St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, the February full moon, coinciding with a barometric ridge, gifted residents with picturesque views in pastel tones. Mesmerizing footage of the moonrise, taken from the height of the Lakhta Center skyscraper, was published on its Telegram channel on February 3.
The astronomical full moon occurred around 1 a.m. on February 2. In North America, where February is traditionally the snowiest month, it is called the «snow moon» — this name is now used in other regions as well. In the clear St. Petersburg sky, the large moon rose, coloring the sky first in warm pink and then in cool blue hues.
As the authors of the publication note, the moon will appear full for several more days. It can be observed most spectacularly during evening rise or morning setting over the horizon, when the disk looks especially large and has a golden color. For this, any location with an open horizon line to the northwest or northeast is suitable, such as the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland.
On the morning of Tuesday, February 3, the snow moon was clearly visible even in the center of the metropolis, where it shone in the sky simultaneously with the sun.
