Snake bite kills former The Voice Nigeria contestant Ifunanya Nwangene

Ifunanya Nwangene, who gained fame after participating in the third season of «The Voice Nigeria», died following a snake bite. Her musical choir confirmed the sad news in a social media post, announcing her «sudden demise». According to them, the tragedy occurred on 31 January in a hospital in Nigeria.

As reported by media, the snake bit Nwangene while she was sleeping, waking her in the middle of the night. According to a choir member, two snakes were later found in the singer«s home. Footage is circulating on social media allegedly showing a reptile specialist removing one of the snakes from the residence.

Initially, Ifunanya sought help at a nearby clinic, but the necessary antivenom was not available there. She had to travel to another hospital, where she ultimately passed away.
National fame came to Nwangene after her performance on «The Voice Nigeria», where she sang Rihanna«s »Take a Bow« and turned the chairs of two judges. Video of her audition has garnered over 80,000 views on the video platform.
At the time of her death, the singer was planning her first solo concert, scheduled for 2026. Ifunanya was 26 years old.
