The legal proceedings over the Moscow apartment of Chelyabinsk City Duma deputy Alexander Galkin continued on Wednesday, 4 February, in the Central District Court. The prosecutor«s office questions whether the elite housing was acquired with legal income and proposes to confiscate it to the state. Today, the deputy»s lawyer brought his income declarations for several years to the hearing, while the prosecutor«s representative brought a list of the family»s expenses on jewelry, vacations, and electronics. This will help the court compare the Galkin family«s actual standard of living with his income statements.

«In 2022, the deputy«s wife paid for dental services totaling 208,000 rubles (approximately $2,200 at current exchange rates). Then, purchases of electronics at M.Video for 283,000 rubles (approximately $3,000 at current exchange rates) in 2021 and 2022. «In 2020, the family vacationed at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Petersburg. The cost per night was 58,000 rubles (approximately $611 at current exchange rates), and the total for 2020 was 84,000 rubles (approximately $884 at current exchange rates) just on hotels. In 2024, about 55,000 rubles (approximately $579 at current exchange rates) were spent on hotel accommodations. In November 2022 to Turkey, in July 2022 to the United Arab Emirates, in February 2022 to the Seychelles, April 2021 to the Seychelles, December 2020 to Mali, February 2020 to the Czech Republic, August 2019 to Italy and Monaco. «It was established that quite a lot of money was transferred to other individuals, including his ex-wife — apparently for the support of a minor child,» reported Olga Fefelova. «In 2021 — 62,000 rubles (approximately $653 at current exchange rates), in 2022 — 210,000 rubles (approximately $2,200 at current exchange rates), in 2023 — 195,000 rubles (approximately $2,100 at current exchange rates), in 2024 — 211,000 rubles (approximately $2,200 at current exchange rates). Additionally, assistance was provided to his father. In 2021 that was 60,000 rubles (approximately $632 at current exchange rates), in 2022 — 152,000 rubles (approximately $1,600 at current exchange rates), in 2023 — 104,000 rubles (approximately $1,100 at current exchange rates), and in 2024 — 50,000 rubles (approximately $526 at current exchange rates). We are talking about those expenses that were identified in the course of the money flow.»
The City Duma deputy Alexander Galkin himself was not present at today«s court hearing. We tried to get his comment, but he has not yet responded to either calls or messages. The deputy»s position will be published after his response is received.
Recall that the lawsuit against the deputy was filed by the prosecutor«s office at the end of October.
