Sewage has flooded the basements of several houses on Kazachya Street in the Antipikha neighborhood of Chita due to a non-functional pumping station (KNS). This was reported to a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 30 by a local resident, and the information was confirmed by Deputy Mayor Andrei Grenishin.

«At Kazachya, 22, 22a, 22b, 24, 24a, 26, 26a, the KNS has not been working for over a week. Because of this, basements have been flooding for a week. The most basic thing — there»s no clean air,« the woman said.

Andrei Grenishin explained to the correspondent that work is underway: «Apparently, the basket is clogged with debris. As usual, with rags and so on. Now the contractor is pumping it out, will clean the basket, and will bring it back into normal operation. As usual, people are using the sewer system improperly. Mikhail Valeryevich Shibaev (head of the Ingodinsky district. — Ed.) is also aware of the problem.»

In January, sewage flooded a courtyard near house Kazachya, 3a, in the Antipikha neighborhood of Chita twice. Mikhail Shibaev had said that several houses in the neighborhood suffer from this problem — at Borovaya Street, 2, 8, and at Kazachya, 22, 24, 3a. Besides wet wipes, clogs are caused by cat litter and construction materials.

The water utility cleared 130 sewer blockages in Chita«s apartment buildings during the New Year holidays, with a particularly tense situation in the 9th microdistrict of the KSK neighborhood.
