Severomorsk's Renewal Continues: Further Changes Planned for Northern Fleet Capital

On January 22, at a press conference, Murmansk Oblast Governor Andrey Chibis answered journalists« questions about the future of Severomorsk. The discussion touched not only on the architectural lighting that has already adorned the city but also on new development plans.
According to the regional head, work on updating Severomorsk will continue. First of all, this year, they plan to complete the improvement of Safonov Street — it is to become a full-fledged and convenient promenade for residents. Despite difficulties with contractors, the project is promised to be completed.
Another important project is the reconstruction of the Officers« House. The building has been in poor condition for a long time, and, as the governor noted, postponing repairs had become dangerous. Work is now actively underway, and the renovated Officers» House is planned to open this year.
Also, in 2024, work on the stadium will be completed, and the modernization of the hospital will continue. The multi-story building is already changing externally, with active repairs inside. A fully modern hospital complex in Severomorsk is intended to be created by 2027–2028.
Moreover, plans include major repairs of facades of iconic buildings and extensive work to update heating networks. All these changes, according to Andrey Chibis, should make Severomorsk a more comfortable and modern city where residents can feel real changes.

Andrey Chibis«s press conference lasted more than four hours. Journalists, bloggers, and public and channel administrators gathered: we showed what treats they were greeted with at the event. The event began with the governor»s presentation, in which he detailed how he sees the development of Murmansk Oblast in 2026.
The first question asked to the governor was about gas prices. Next, Andrey Chibis answered whether the deadlines for major repairs would be accelerated. He was also asked what would happen with waste in the region and whether new production facilities would appear.
Journalist 51.RU Alexandra Balaba asked the governor if anything could be done about fish prices: according to Vladimir Putin, Russians lack this product in their diet.
The press conference was very emotional in parts; at one point, Andrey Chibis sincerely admitted who he«d like to punch in the face. The governor was asked a sharp question about the resettlement of dilapidated housing.
Many topics were raised at the meeting with journalists: what budget savings will lead to, why the snow in Murmansk is black again, what is happening with medicine, and how to speed up the process of resettlement from dilapidated housing.
