Savannah Guthrie pulls out of Olympics over missing mother

Savannah Guthrie will no longer host the broadcast of the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics for NBC. According to media reports, the host is stepping down from the project amid ongoing searches for her missing mother.

Guthrie«s elderly mother, Nancy, went missing from her home in Tucson last weekend. Law enforcement agencies are treating her disappearance as a possible crime and have declared the home a crime scene.

Guthrie was supposed to host the opening ceremony in Milan with Terry Gannon. However, as insiders report, the host will not leave the country until her mother is found. «Right now, only family comes first for her,» a source close to NBC is quoted as saying.

At the television network, according to media information, chaos has erupted due to the search for a replacement for such an important event at the last minute. «She is the face of this broadcast, she cannot simply be replaced,» explained one of NBC«s veterans. It is reported that producers are urgently restructuring all plans.

Meanwhile, in Tucson, an active search is underway for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie. According to law enforcement, she has mobility issues but no cognitive disorders, so she could not have left on her own. «We know that she didn»t just walk out of the house,« the sheriff stated.
Authorities are deploying additional forces to the search, including aviation, since the home is near the border with Mexico. «The situation is very serious,» noted a sheriff«s representative.
On Monday, Savannah Guthrie was absent from the TODAY broadcast but issued a statement. «I thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and words of support. Right now, all our attention is focused on the safe return of our dear mom,» it said. According to media reports, the channel«s management fully supports the host in this situation.
