Samara Activist Calls for Kuzbass Governor to Apologize

Samara activist Yekaterina Kolotovkina has criticized the statement by Kuzbass head Ilya Seredyuk. A member of the Russian Public Chamber, she believes the governor of Kemerovo Oblast should apologize for his words.

«The head of Kuzbass, without waiting for the investigation results, made his own conclusions about the infants who died in the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital. He defended the doctors, thereby suggesting that the mothers themselves are to blame for the children»s deaths. The regional head added that the version of a hospital infection has not been confirmed yet; medical error affected only three children — all had different attending physicians, and they couldn«t have made mistakes simultaneously,» wrote the general«s wife on her Telegram channel.

Kolotovkina quoted Seredyuk as saying that the mothers did not monitor their health, did not receive prenatal care, and even came to give birth while intoxicated.

«The governor noted that most of the deceased children were severely premature. He also advised women to take care of their health, and then there would be fewer pathologies. After journalists» inquiries, the recording with the regional head«s conclusions was deleted. For some reason, Ilya Vladimirovich did not comment on the maternity hospital»s rating and women«s reviews about unsanitary conditions and staff negligence,» emphasized Yekaterina Kolotovkina.

The activist wants to believe that justice will eventually be restored.

«I hope that the investigative authorities will conduct a thorough check and all those guilty in the children»s deaths will be punished,« wrote the author of the »Heroes« Wives» project.

Kolotovkina also addressed Ilya Seredyuk:

«And I also hope that the governor of Kuzbass will find the strength to apologize to the women he has greatly offended… Not only those who lost children during the New Year holidays, but all mothers,» believes the Samara activist.

Yekaterina Kolotovkina has already commented on the tragedy at the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital. The general«s wife proposed a solution that would protect both women in labor and medical workers.
