The Volgograd Regional Office of Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media) has taken interest in destructive chats where personal data of minors was posted. This information is contained in the agency«s response to a query from the editorial board of V1.RU.
Recall that the appearance of a chat called «Freaks of Volgograd» was reported by prominent Volgograd animal rights activist Alina Yerina. According to her, she also found her son in this chat.
«It turns out there»s a Telegram channel with an audience of over five thousand people, where personal photos and data of children are posted, they are insulted obscenely and called for violence against these children and teenagers,« said Alina Yerina. »Information about my child ended up there, and I found out about it. We would like to bring this to light and sort out the situation. What is happening is terrible. These are all children from our city.«
On the screenshots attached to the appeal to the editorial board of V1.RU, photos of teenagers and obscene descriptions with calls to commit acts of violence against teenagers are indeed posted.
Parents intended to write a collective statement to the police requesting to find and hold accountable the author of the Telegram channel. Similar queries were sent by the editorial board of V1.RU to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region and the regional office of Roskomnadzor. From the regulatory agency, a response came that following the review of the complaint received by Roskomnadzor, a request was sent to Telegram to delete personal data. No response from the police regarding the appeal had been received at the time of publication.
