Residents report bleach-like tap water near Volgograd due to excess chlorine
Complaints about the water have been coming in since this morning.
Residents of Krasnoslobodsk, a city near Volgograd, are complaining about a strange, very strong chemical taste in the tap water. According to complaints, it appeared this morning, and the «poisoned» water has flowed through pipes across the entire city, reaching even elite cottages.
One longtime resident, in a conversation with V1.RU, admitted that he didn«t even notice the problem at first, as he often drinks only bottled water.
«It»s always like this for us. Locals more often buy water from vending machines with additional purification or in bottles. Last year it flowed green, this year it«s white. Now in the bathroom, there»s a smell of chlorine, as if bleach is pouring from the tap,« says a local.
The Krasnoslobodsk water utility explained the specific taste and smell as due to a slightly excessive addition of chlorine, but reassured that it is not dangerous to drink.
«Because many pipes froze plus there was a power outage. So we added a bit more to »flush« the water. It will normalize soon. At the water utility, at least, it»s already clean, so it will reach you soon,« said the organization.
