Residents of Kuzbass town denied recalculation for poor-quality hot water

Residents of Taiga are demanding a recalculation of their utility bills not only for cold water but also for hot water. On Thursday, January 22, city administration specialists responded that no refund would be issued because the maximum concentration of harmful substances in the hot water had not been exceeded.
Taiga residents are due for a recalculation of their utility payments because the city has been deprived of drinking water for a long time due to impurities. Townspeople on social media were outraged that this measure only applied to one type of water supply. The mayor«s office confirmed that the water for heating is taken from the same source as the cold water supply—the Yaya River intake.
However, specialists assert that hot water allegedly undergoes more thorough filtration at the boiler houses.
«Analysis of samples taken from the hot water supply system revealed no significant excess of the maximum permissible concentrations. At the proposal of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), additional control over the quality of the hot water supply has been organized with a frequency of once every 10 days,» wrote specialists from the municipality«s official account.
Users doubted that if the filtration at the water intake could not handle the content of manganese and chlorine, then a purifier at the boiler house would be able to.
