In January, residents of Krasnodar Krai began buying goods online more frequently. Since the start of the month, traffic on marketplaces grew by 19% compared to last year. Men were the most engaged in the process of selecting goods. The research was conducted by analysts from Megafon (a Russian mobile operator) based on anonymized data.
By the end of the long January holidays, southerners were visiting online stores more often. However, the most popular days for shopping were the first working days — January 12 and 13. January 1 was the «quietest» day for virtual purchases.
The main audience of online stores in the first weeks of January were residents of the region aged 35 to 44 — they accounted for 40% of all visits. Another 25% of visitors were people aged 45 to 54, and 17% were aged 25 to 34. Men, meanwhile, used 33% more traffic than women. Analysts note this may indicate they require more time to study the product assortment.
— Online shopping saves time, simplifies life, and in bad weather — for example, during heavy snowfalls — also allows one to avoid unnecessary health risks. So that residents of rural areas can use the same opportunities as city dwellers, we are developing communication infrastructure. Over the past year, more than a thousand base stations have been built and modernized in the region. Now people can solve their everyday tasks without leaving home, — said Andrei Kholodov, the director of the operator in Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea.
