Renovation of Nizhny Novgorod Literary Museum to finish by summer 2026

The Gorky Literary Museum in the Volga region capital is planned to be restored by summer 2026. This was announced in the city council by Sergey Razhivin, director of GlavUKS Nizhny Novgorod.
According to him, in the Burmistrova House, which is a cultural heritage site, interior finishing work is currently underway: specialists are laying parquet, as well as restoring and installing doors.
In addition, paint for gilding interior details has been purchased to date. They aim to complete the work by summer, when the museum is set to open its first post-renovation exhibition.
Recall that in spring 2019, the building was closed for repairs, and a year later, a fire caused by faulty wiring occurred in the museum, severely damaging the premises. After that, a new phase of restoration work began. However, the historic building was unlucky again—the contractor repeatedly missed deadlines, and the repair was put on pause.
Meanwhile, unique craftsmen from across the country are working in the museum. The specialists shared the features and challenges of their work in a conversation with NN.RU.
