Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken an interest in water and heating outages in Rostov Region. He asked Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation Irek Faizullin to report on the situation.

«In these towns that we know about in Rostov Region, people have been left without water supply, without heat. What is the state of affairs? Please tell me again,» RIA Novosti quotes Putin as saying.

In Gukovo, Zverevo, and settlements in Krasnosulinsky and Kamensky districts, there has been no water for five days. Two accidents occurred in a row on the pipeline. Water also ran out in stores, and local residents lined up in long queues at water tankers. Bastrykin has ordered a criminal case to be initiated. Water supply has been restored in some areas, but some taps are still dry. On the morning of January 21, part of Novoshakhtinsk was left without water — also due to an accident.

In recent days, residents of Rostov have complained about the cold in their apartments. For many, the temperature does not rise above 17–18°C (62–64°F). Authorities have recommended that they contact managing organizations.
