Putin Honors Memory of Siege of Leningrad Victims

Vladimir Putin took part in events marking the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade. The first stop of his visit was the memorial military-historical complex «Nevsky Pyatachok», where the head of state laid flowers at the «Rubezhny Kamen» monument. The ceremony was attended by the governor of Leningrad Oblast, Alexander Drozdenko.
Then the presidential motorcade proceeded to the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. There, he was joined by the governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the burial site where his elder brother rests, who died in childhood during the siege.
The commemorative ceremony concluded with the laying of a wreath at the foot of the «Motherland» monument on the territory of the Piskaryovskoye Cemetery.
