In mining towns of Rostov Oblast, water supply disruptions have persisted for almost a week due to a pipeline accident. Although the accident was promised to be fixed within a day, the work has been delayed. Residents of Gukovo, Zverevo, and settlements in the Kamensky and Krasnosulinsky districts are forced to melt snow and queue for delivered water, as stable water supply has been absent since January 16.
The regional prosecutor«s office has demanded a recalculation of payment for substandard utility services. A reprimand was issued to Anatoly Glushkov, head of the branch »Management of Water Supply System Development,« and he faces liability for violating utility service provision standards.
Another reprimand was received by Gukovo city head Andrey Sheenkov — he is accused of unsatisfactory organization of water delivery to the population.
«The materials of the prosecutor»s inspection have been sent to the investigative body to decide on criminal prosecution of responsible officials under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements),« stated the regional prosecutor»s office.
President Vladimir Putin has taken an interest in the situation with water supply and heating in the region. He instructed Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Irek Fayzullin to report on the measures taken.
