Prisma Owners Denied Demolition Delay, But Unfinished Building Stays

Courts continue in Yekaterinburg over the scandalous unfinished Prisma building.
The owners of the scandalous unfinished Prisma building have lost another court case. To recap, they had requested a delay in the building«s demolition, but this request was denied. However, a swift demolition of the Prisma building should not be expected.

The building appears increasingly dilapidated with each passing year.
«We are currently waiting for the court»s reasoned decision,« Yekaterinburg Deputy Head Rustam Gallyamov told E1.RU. »According to our information, the defendant will challenge this court decision. Therefore, in any case, until there is some decision on a demolition delay, we cannot take any action.«
Back in 2022, the Arbitration Court ordered that LLC «Trade and Exhibition Center »European«», LLC «StroyInvest2007», and LLC «USKN» must demolish the high-rise part of the building from the 8th to the 36th floor, and either bring the remaining floors into compliance with urban planning regulations or liquidate them as a high-rise.
Recall that the city authorities earlier decided not to take on the demolition of the Prisma until the situation is resolved in the courts. However, the mayor«s office has already developed contingency plans in case the building»s owners somehow withdraw from the demolition work.
Thus, the city administration has already consulted with specialists from one of the specialized institutes at Ural Federal University (UrFU) to understand how to dismantle the Prisma.
«Technical solutions for this exist, but everything is complicated by the confined conditions. Moreover, the lower floors of the building are in use,» Rustam Gallyamov reminded.
A detailed story about how the city«s first large-scale high-rise project turned into an illegal unfinished building is available via this link.
Note that recently, the Prisma has become a magnet for teenagers: they have climbed the building and spread fakes about fires and its demolition. Our colleague wrote a column on why this is a major problem.
