However, the published correspondence tells a different story. In July 2009, while Epstein was still serving a sentence for soliciting a minor, the prince arranged a visit to Buckingham Palace for his goddaughter Selina. Sarah Ferguson wrote to Epstein that Andrew would help arrange a «good time» for the girl. Epstein replied from prison with thanks.
In February 2010, the prince«s private secretary, Amanda Thirsk, invited Epstein to a celebration of Andrew»s 50th birthday at St James«s Palace. Epstein declined. Two months later, the prince wrote directly to Epstein, offering to meet in New York. At that time, Epstein had recently been released from prison and was required to register as a sex offender.

In August, Epstein arranged a dinner for Andrew with a »beautiful and reliable« 26-year-old Russian woman. Around the same time, a lunch at Royal Lodge was discussed, where plans were made to talk about Sarah Ferguson»s financial future.
Contacts did not cease in autumn and winter 2010. In November, the prince wrote that he was looking forward to meeting to «discuss and plan something interesting.» In December, he sent Epstein a Christmas card with wishes. The correspondence continued into 2011, and in 2017, Epstein was still receiving information about the prince«s project Pitch@Palace.
