Analysts have discovered how parents of schoolchildren in Voronezh motivate their children to succeed in their studies. The research was shared by the SuperJob service.

The most popular method turned out to be verbal praise—used by 30% of respondents. In second place among encouragement methods are joint trips to entertainment venues (26%), and in third is fulfilling the child«s wishes (22%). Parents less often motivate with gifts (16%) or permission to play computer games or watch TV (14%).

Direct material motivation—money or sweets—is used by 12% of families. At the same time, every ninth family pays for grades directly: 8% give money for every good mark, while another 3% pay exclusively for top grades (fives).

Fathers are twice as likely as mothers to practice financial rewards for grades and more often give gifts. Mothers, on the other hand, prefer to limit themselves to verbal praise. Interestingly, among men there are also more of those who do not reward children at all—such parents accounted for 6% of all respondents.
