Dozens of homes on Angarskaya Street in Volgograd«s Dzerzhinsky district were suddenly left without electricity. Apartments were plunged into darkness, and city residents hoping to relax after a hard work week simply cannot heat up food or turn on the TV.

The problem was reported by a V1.RU reader who returned home from work and clearly had no plans to sit in the dark all evening.

‘It’s been an hour without power, my mom told me,’ laments a distressed Volgograd woman. ‘And it’s like this all along the street, but not in every building: the emergency services said that something happened at transformer substations in several districts and the electricity is reaching residential buildings in a checkerboard pattern. They say they’ve already gone to fix it and promised to restore everything by night. For now, we only have candlelight…’

The V1.RU editorial office clarified the cause of the power outage in Dzerzhinsky district with JSC Volgograd Interdistrict Electric Networks. Later, they announced the approximate time when power would be restored:

‘The VMES repair team is currently taking the necessary measures to eliminate a local technical fault and restore power supply. The approximate time for reconnecting consumers is about two hours.’

Recall that recently a blackout hit Voroshilovsky district. Then, residents of the gardening non-profit partnership ‘Druzhba-2’ had a hard time: for them, not only lighting but also heating depends on electricity, and its absence during the Epiphany frosts pleased no one.
