Pipe leak creates frozen waterfall on Ufa apartment building

A giant ice sheet formed along the facade of a house on Sofya Perovskaya Street. The buildup of icicles grew so large at one point that the hanging ice from balconies reached lower floors and was on the verge of merging into one large «stalactite».

The city hall told us that the cause is a water leak. Part of the ice has been removed, but in some places, terrifying icicles are still visible. The consequences of the incident are still being addressed.

«Specialized services promptly responded and began eliminating the consequences... Work is being carried out according to plan,» noted the Ufa administration.

Note that the leak occurred on the side of the house whose facade is still under construction. The ice covered exposed areas of insulation — it will have to be dismantled and discarded, and then new insulation laid.
