Peak came after New Year break as Rostov residents shopped online

Residents of the Rostov region have firmly settled on online marketplaces. Since the start of the year, the amount of traffic Don residents spend on online shopping has increased by 11%. In this process, men were the most engaged. They downloaded 15% more data than women. The authors of the study — analysts from MegaFon — attribute this to the fact that male buyers require more time to study the product range.
The main audience of online stores in the first weeks of January consisted of regional residents aged 35–44. They accounted for 34% of all visits. Another 27% were provided by people aged 45–54, while 14% were subscribers of the operator aged 25 to 34.
«Today, making a purchase takes just minutes: residents of the region easily place orders — while waiting in line for coffee, on their way home, or while waiting for a child after classes. Online shopping has firmly entered everyday life, and the demand for mobile internet for such operations is constantly growing. To ensure the possibilities of digital trade are equally accessible, we are systematically expanding our LTE network coverage. Over the past year, we have managed to build and modernize more than 1,300 communication facilities. These stations are located in all districts of the region — now even residents of remote settlements can use online services for shopping,» said the director of the operator in the Rostov region, Alexey Ivanov.
Increased interest in online shopping among Don residents was recorded at the end of the New Year holidays. By the first workdays on January 12 and 13, visits to marketplaces reached their peak since the start of the year. The «quietest» day in terms of virtual purchases was January 1, when locals preferred to spend time with loved ones or go for a walk.
