Passengers Stranded at Airport Amid Flight Delays to Egypt

A flight from Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg to Hurghada, Egypt, has been delayed for a second day due to severe weather conditions.

The aircraft of AlMasria Universal Airlines, which was supposed to depart from Yekaterinburg to Hurghada, could not land at Koltsovo Airport on January 28. The crew decided to divert to an alternate airport in Chelyabinsk due to heavy snowfall.

According to one of the passengers, people were kept on board the aircraft from 7 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Some of those delayed have still not received their luggage. «The flight is being delayed every hour. The plane landed in Chelyabinsk, when it will arrive in Yekaterinburg is unknown,» said one of the affected passengers.

The press service of Koltsovo Airport stated that operations are proceeding normally, and the decision to divert to an alternate airport was made by the crew of that specific flight. Meanwhile, other aircraft are arriving on schedule.

«Due to the delay in the aircraft»s arrival in Yekaterinburg, the departure time to Hurghada is changing. Carrier representatives are working with the passengers, providing services in accordance with federal aviation regulations,« noted the press service. This same aircraft is supposed to take the tourists back to Egypt.
