Over 28,000 Murmansk Pensioners Get Supplement Under New Rules

The supplement is now automatically paid with the pension, eliminating the need for separate transfers.
In Murmansk Region, over 28,000 elderly residents who do not work are receiving a regional supplement to their pension payments. The information was confirmed by the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia.
At the beginning of the year, the average amount of this support was about 5,500 rubles (approximately $55 at current rates). The supplement is due to those pensioners whose monthly incomes do not reach the established subsistence minimum. In 2026, for pensioners in the region, it is set at 22,700 rubles (approximately $227 at current rates).
The key change concerns the method of receiving the money: if previously the funds were transferred separately through social protection authorities, now the supplement arrives automatically — simultaneously with the pension.
