Over 14,000 Migrants Deported from St. Petersburg, MVD Reports

On January 29, the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, Roman Pluguin, presented a report to the Legislative Assembly. He presented the results of the department«s activities for 2025, according to which over 14,000 illegal migrants were deported from the region, and overall crime decreased.
In the field of migration, law enforcement agencies conducted over 4.5 thousand special operations. As a result, over 103,000 violations of entry and stay regulations in the country were prevented. More than 14,000 people were subjected to administrative deportation. Also, 205 crimes related to the organization of illegal migration were prevented, and over 3.5 thousand cases of fictitious registration of arrivals were stopped.
Overall, over 31,000 crimes of various categories were solved during the year. The number of serious offenses, murders, and robberies decreased.
Overall, street crime decreased by as much as 18%. The number of road accidents involving drunk drivers decreased in the region by 25%,stated Roman Pluguin.
Economic crime also remained in focus: over 3.5 thousand such crimes were registered. A 12% increase in cases of illicit alcohol trafficking was detected. Over 9,000 crimes related to the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances were prevented.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, commenting on the meeting«s outcomes, called the city on the Neva one of the safest in Russia and emphasized that this is primarily due to the police officers» efforts.
