At the age of 87, the outstanding neurosurgeon Vladimir Petrovich Vandyshev, who worked for more than 40 years at the Samara Regional Clinical Hospital, has died.

«He was a highly professional neurosurgeon, one of those specialists whose work determined the development of the service for years to come,» colleagues of the doctor said.

Vladimir Petrovich operated on patients with pathologies of the brain and spinal cord, actively worked in the system of planned and emergency care, and traveled to districts of the Samara region to consult and treat people with severe neurosurgical pathologies.

He was one of the first to introduce modern diagnostic and surgical methods, consistently advocating the use of new technologies in clinical practice.

A special place in his professional biography is the creation and development of the pediatric neurosurgical service. In 1997, Vladimir Petrovich was appointed head of the newly opened planned pediatric neurosurgical department of the Seredavin Samara Regional Clinical Hospital (SOKB) and made a significant contribution to organizing specialized care for children in Samara and the Samara region. Under his leadership, the department became a center for both planned and emergency neurosurgical care.
