Doctors at the Orenburg Regional Children«s Clinical Hospital performed a unique operation to remove part of the intestine of an 11-month-old child with Hirschsprung»s disease. This is a pathology in which there are no nerve endings in part of the large intestine. This can cause serious disruptions in the digestive system.

Doctors in Orenburg can perform the Swenson procedure — a surgical procedure without incisions on the anterior abdominal wall. Access to the damaged intestine is achieved through the anal canal.
