Oleg Bogun, who previously headed the State Traffic Inspectorate (GIBDD) of Rostov Oblast, has been appointed as the acting deputy police chief – head of the Traffic Police Department of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Krasnodar Krai. The department clarified that the appointment takes effect from January 20, 2026. A source in the law enforcement agencies confirmed the information, adding that Bogun had long sought to transfer following his former boss Oleg Agarkov, who now heads the Ministry of Internal Affairs administration in Kuban. The decision to transfer was made immediately after Agarkov«s appointment, but its implementation took several months.
“Well, Oleg Bogun has been asking to go there for a long time. You could say he begged for it. They changed Agarkov and planned to remove Bogun. Since last summer, coordination has been underway, but Bogun specifically wanted to get to Krasnodar Krai. He simply wasn’t going to leave, let alone lose his general’s position there,” the source explained.
Oleg Bogun was born in Krasnodar Krai and has been serving in the State Traffic Inspectorate since 1994. Before his transfer to Rostov Oblast, from July 2011 he held the position of head of the Traffic Police Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Krasnodar, and prior to that, for five years he headed the Traffic Police Department of the Leningradsky District of Krasnodar Krai.
On January 20, it became known that Bogun was relieved of his post in the Don Traffic Police. Back in August 2025, sources reported that the police colonel decided to leave his position after the transfer of Oleg Agarkov, who headed the police of Krasnodar Krai.
