Residents of Novoyaltaysk began spending more time online. The satellite city of Barnaul, with a population of 73,000, downloaded 13% more traffic last year than in 2024. This conclusion was reached by analysts at MegaFon. In response to growing demand, engineers modernized the network in the most popular locations.
As a result, the update affected most of the city«s telecom infrastructure. Engineers launched high-frequency 4G bands to expand LTE capabilities and evenly distribute network load in areas with high user activity. Additionally, the communications specialists performed refarming: transferring frequencies from second- and third-generation networks to 4G.
— «We value the digital comfort of our subscribers wherever they are: at home, at work, or on the road, so network optimization work continues. The introduction of the high-frequency band has improved connection stability, increased network capacity, and boosted mobile internet speeds. According to specialist measurements, the average data transfer speed in this band is up to 25 Mbps,» noted Maria Zanko, director of the operator in Altai Krai and the Altai Republic.
Over the year, not only the volume of transmitted data increased in Novoyaltaysk, but also the number of voice calls — by almost a quarter. At the same time, 76% of all calls were made using VoLTE technology. It allows making voice calls while simultaneously using the internet.
