Novosibirsk to calculate needed cleaning equipment purchases if budget limits allocated
The city needs appropriations from the regional budget to purchase the equipment.
Novosibirsk plans to purchase cleaning equipment subject to support from the region. This was reported by NGS in the mayor«s press center.
On January 20, at the transport committee of the Novosibirsk Regional Legislative Assembly, First Deputy Mayor of Novosibirsk Iosif Kodalaev said that the city will not purchase cleaning equipment in 2026 due to difficult economic conditions.
In response to an NGS inquiry, the Novosibirsk mayor«s office explained that the acquisition of specialized equipment for maintaining the street and road network would be possible »when the limits of budget allocations from the Novosibirsk regional budget are allocated«.
«Currently, the department is conducting a detailed calculation <...> and analyzing the declared need of the city»s road maintenance institutions for road construction equipment intended for maintaining the street and road network,« the mayor»s office replied.
In December 2025, at a session of the City Council, Iosif Kodalaev reported that the city has a total of 800 units of cleaning equipment, of which 535 are intended for winter work. Over three years, the city purchased 246 new units of equipment, including a channel-flushing machine for maintaining storm drains and two tow trucks for moving abandoned cars and vehicles that interfere with cleaning.
