Nochlezhka Collects 'Rescue' Blankets for Homeless in Two Capitals
This week, extremely low temperatures are forecast for Moscow and St. Petersburg. Over the weekend in St. Petersburg, thermometers may drop to -23°C (-9°F), and in Moscow, in some areas, to -25°C (-13°F). In response, Nochlezhka has launched a campaign to collect «rescue» blankets for people without housing.
«To help them survive the cold, at the «Night Bus» parking spots we will distribute «rescue» blankets to homeless people. These are thin foil blankets; they retain heat and help get through the night on the street,» the organization explained.
Representatives of Nochlezhka noted that such blankets are widely available on all major online marketplaces. Those wishing to support the initiative can deliver them independently to shelters in St. Petersburg and Moscow or use a delivery service.
More detailed information can be found on Nochlezhka«s official social media page.
