The unified transport management platform «Sputnik» is planned to be implemented in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. For this, the regional government wants to conclude a concession agreement this year. The creation and maintenance of the digital platform is estimated at almost 1.69 billion rubles (about $16.9 million at current rates).

The system will include a software complex, specialized software, stationary complexes for photo-video recording of traffic violations, server and technological equipment. The platform will be able to monitor the infrastructure of the intelligent transport system, as well as predict and analyze traffic accidents. The implementation of the project is planned for almost three years from the moment the agreement is concluded.

As told in his Telegram channel by Rustam Dosayev, a deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly, the launch of the «Sputnik» system is a logical continuation of work that the authorities started in 2021. Then in Nizhny Novgorod, they began implementing an intelligent transport system: «smart» traffic lights with video cameras and detectors capable of analyzing the situation on the road appeared.

«The additions, which will include many intelligent systems, including the »Traffic Accident Analysis and Forecasting System,« should minimize existing problems,» Dosayev stated.

Earlier we reported that surveillance cameras were installed at a dangerous railway crossing near Balakhna, where several traffic accidents with electric trains have occurred in recent years.
