According to forecasts, Nizhny Novgorod is expecting heavy snowfall on Saturday and Sunday. Mayor Yuri Shalabaev stated that city services are preparing for a possible deterioration of weather conditions. The head of the city noted that currently, while precipitation has not resumed, road enterprises are working as actively as possible on snow removal. The main transport arteries, according to Shalabaev, have been cleared down to the asphalt and are in good condition, but the situation in residential courtyards is uneven.
«I was on an inspection tour this morning, and it»s certainly very cold. Winter in general has been testing many cities this year with its traditional attributes — snowfall and frost. We have a lull with the first [snowfall] now. I don«t want to say it»s the calm before the storm, but according to forecasts, we are facing a rather snowy weekend,« the mayor said.
For today, Shalabaev has scheduled a meeting on the purchase of snow removal equipment. He reminded that in 2021, this work was stepped up, after which large-scale acquisitions of special vehicles began. To date, the fleet of city road services has been updated by more than 400 vehicles, and this activity is planned to continue.
Also on the mayor«s agenda is a visit to the N. A. Dobrolyubov Museum. There, for the 190th anniversary of the famous Nizhny Novgorod resident, a unique exhibition has been organized, created jointly with specialists from Kostroma.
