Sergey Razhzhivin, director of the Main Directorate of Capital Construction of Nizhny Novgorod, announced at a city council meeting that restoration work at the Gorky Literary Museum is to be completed by summer 2026.
Currently, in the Burmistrova House, which is a cultural heritage site, interior finishing is underway: craftsmen are laying parquet and working on the restoration and installation of doors.
Paint for gilding decorative elements has already been purchased for the interior. It is planned that the first exhibition after the renovation will open in the museum in summer 2026.
The building was closed for repairs in spring 2019. A year later, in 2020, a fire caused by faulty wiring inflicted significant damage to the premises.
After that, restoration work resumed, but the contractor repeatedly missed deadlines, leading to pauses in the repairs.
Unique restorers from various regions of Russia are working on the site, having previously shared details of their work.
