Plans to build lifts on the slope near Chernigovskaya Embankment became known in 2024. Deputy Governor Sergei Morozov said that connectivity of the area would be ensured by «two funiculars or escalators».

Last fall, documentation for the land planning for the construction of a lift near the metro bridge and the future IT campus «Neimark» was released. In it, the facility was called a «pulsating type cable car». What this means, we found in an article from the scientific journal «Molodoy Ucheny» (Young Scientist): «Pulsating roads ensure circular movement of rolling stock with constant speed on the line and with its deceleration at terminal stations for passenger boarding/alighting».

As previously reported by NN.RU, the length of the first Chernigovskaya cable car will be about 257 meters. The upper station will be located near Dalnyaya Street, the lower one — not far from Romodanovsky Station.

Recently, the planning project for the construction of the second lift was published — the upper station is planned to be located near the Residence Prime residential complex on Barminskaya Street. Approximate characteristics of the cable car:

  • length — 339.9 meters;
  • one-way capacity — 900 people per hour;
  • 5 linear supports.

It is noted that the construction of the cable car will require the relocation of utility lines. Moreover, the site partially occupies the historical territory «Old Nizhny Novgorod». Currently, the planning project is undergoing public discussions, which will last until 30 January.
