Nizhny Novgorod Airport Complex Project Cost Soars by Tens of Billions

The project of a multifunctional congress hall with a hotel near Chkalov Airport in Nizhny Novgorod has risen in cost to 41.2 billion rubles (about $458 million at current rates). As recently as last June, its construction was estimated at 18 billion rubles (about $200 million at current rates). The complex has now been included in the list of facilities for which the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region plans to conclude a concession agreement in 2026. The documentation has been published on the regional government«s website.

The multifunctional complex will include an expo center, a congress center, and service infrastructure. The total area of the facility exceeds 100,000 square meters. The building is planned to be constructed on the eastern side of the air harbor under a concession agreement.

The estimated construction period — 3.5 years. It is planned that an agreement with an investor will be concluded this year.
