Nine Ukrainian drones shot down over Volgograd region

Over six hours on February 4, Russian air defense systems destroyed 21 Ukrainian drones. Nine of them were intercepted over the Volgograd region.

During a morning attack on February 4, Russian air defense forces destroyed 21 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over Russian territory. Nearly half of them, nine drones, were eliminated in the airspace of the Volgograd region.
The information was published on the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The ministry«s statement provided the exact breakdown:
  • 9 drones shot down over the Belgorod region;
  • 9 over the Volgograd region;
  • 2 over the Rostov region;
  • 1 over the Kursk region.
The mass drone raid occurred between 08:00 and 14:00 Moscow time, as the military department specified.
Earlier, during the night and early morning hours of February 4, a «drone danger» regime was declared twice in the Volgograd region. Due to the threat, temporary restrictions on takeoffs and landings were introduced at Gumrak Airport.
Governor of the region Andrei Bocharov commented on the consequences of the attack. According to him, an attempt to strike industrial infrastructure facilities in southern Volgograd was repelled. No casualties or destruction of civilian or industrial objects were reported.
