The message was sent in 2018, when Epstein was at the center of a scandal due to a newspaper publication investigating his dark past. Epstein, who was convicted in 2008 for crimes related to the prostitution of minors and died in prison in 2019, was then trying to find a way out of the crisis.
The message was published in a new batch of files.

According to media reports, in the correspondence Epstein discussed how to turn negative articles into something positive, for example, by suggesting writing an article titled «Playful Misunderstood Genius». He also denied the allegations, calling them «nonsense».
One anonymous supporter in a letter asked him: «Ask yourself what you did to the two greatest criminals in our country: Bill and Hillary?» There is no indication that the Clintons actually had anything against Epstein.
The Oversight Committee scheduled Hillary Clinton«s questioning for 26 February 2026.

Meanwhile, Bill and Hillary Clinton stated that they will testify before a Congressional committee as part of the investigation into Epstein«s cases. Previously they had refused, but now they agreed to avoid contempt of Congress charges.
Bill Clinton acknowledged knowing Epstein but claimed he did not visit his island and stopped communication about twenty years ago. However, according to media reports, flight records show he flew on Epstein«s plane four times in 2002 and 2003.
Bill Clinton«s agreement to testify is a rare occurrence. The last time a former US president appeared before Congress was in 1983. For comparison, Donald Trump in 2022 challenged a subpoena, and it was later canceled.
Hillary Clinton«s questioning is scheduled for 26 February 2026.
